Spence is a sound guy. Anyone who thinks he's a racist either doesn't know him or is an idiot stirring up trouble. And he may have a point...DeGale is getting a LOT of hate. Read some of the comments in this thread for starters. People are treating him like he's a Anthony Small. He was cocky with a fighter before a fight, he didn't **** on a union jack.
Racisim, raxisum.Rob is right ...fearon.aint no racist (shame we. Couldent say the same about rob and his dissapointing attitude towards scottish people, and when asked.on another thread dosent have the balls to answer it) his comments were daft but he aint no racist ....
His 'observation' was a nonsense, and that attitude is just as dangerous as outright racism, in fact it's pretty much the same thing. He's groundlessly accused thousands of people of racism, which is ignorant in the extreme - and illustrates his own prejudices.
i probably didnt look at the thread again. anything i have said sbout scottish people has been a wind up mate.
Spencer should have worded the question better or not said it at all. Naively he thought he was just raising debate. There is no way he's racist. I know for instance he does motivational talks to schools in Preston each year. Ones who are almost entirely non-black. Like a lot of black men his age, he is over-obsessed with the issue of race. There's a massive difference. I don't think Bunce did him any favours quite honestly. For the sake of appeasing about 3 people on here he's blown the issue bigger than it should have been. For god's sake guys, look at the next card he's putting on and ask if he's good for boxing or not.
I'm not saying he's racist, but having white friends does not exclude somebody from being racist. However, he did do what a lot of posters on here do, and that's bring the subject of racism up when there really is no need. It's just one comment, though and to be honest I've seen a lot worse things said on this thread.
Spencer asked the question that's all, he did not say it was his opinion, Degale's treatment was not racist in IMO, Degale's treatment of Groves has been disgacefull at times during the build up to the fight, Degale has been booed many times before due to his cocky arrogant attitude and he his a very talented fighter who needs to be more grounded in his approach, Eubank was hated by a lot of the public for the same things, but won them over with his bravery and sportsmanship with his losses to Carl Thompson. Degale can do the same in future if he get's rid of the negative persona. I believe he is a more talented fighter then Groves still, but to get where he wants to, he will need to be a bit more respectfull and humane.
