repeating myself from an earlier thread on podcasts, but Spencer Fearon really irritates me. His manner of speaking suggests that he is either truly stupid, or thinks everyone else is. All those horrible slogans ("visualize to materialize!"), and the spurious historical information he spouts, which is never relevant, more a needy attempt to portray himself as a man of letters.
Wow!, though he was ok myself. His knowledge of past fighters and his recent explanation on toe2toe of how some boxers get paid only on ticket sales as well as the African thing was quite interesting I thought.
I try not to. Occasionally he gets booked as a guest on shows wherein I want to hear what others have to say.
He reminds me of Clarke Carlisle in that he uses big words to make himself seem/feel intelligent, when he uses them in completely the wrong context and they add no substance to his terrible arguments. Feel for Ed Robinson who is a properly knowledgeable geezer having to put up with his ignorance.
When Spencer is making a point its a good time to make a cuppa, and chances are you would have drunk the tea, gone to the toilet and Spencer would only be approaching the halfway mark of the point he is making. Strangely enough the greeting feels awkward too. 'Hello Edwin'
From time to time he appears in my Twitter feed and I tend to just cringe. He's as bad as Curtis Woodhouse with those awful bookie tips
