You make very valid points & i agree with you assessment of Spences abilities, Strange when they were first proposed to fight most people all had Spence being the easy choice over Crawford & essentially gave no chance for Crawford to be even competitive with Spence at that point, most likely due to Crawford size being the issue, while at the same time Spence was perceived by most as being a monster who was expected to run through atleast the PBC Stable of welterweights, Most didn't expect Crawford to fill out so Strongly at welterweight which surprised people along with the manner of how he took out his opposition that in itself made people start to switch their take on which fighter would go over & that was well before Spence getting into that awful accident, With all that said i always thought Crawford would defeat Spence being that he is Slick, very skilled, who uses his reach very well along with having great natural instinct's especially knowing when his opponent is there for the taking, a real Sharpshooter fighter with a tendency to finish his opponent, its pity his competition has been so poor thus far in Career.
I have actually noticed some slight regression in Crawford but you are correct in that people underestimate that Spence’s fundamental skills are better and maybe the best in boxing right now. Crawford is really good athletically and is a mean SOB but that only makes him even more vulnerable to Spence in this stylistic matchup. Crawford will end of having to go for it which will contribute to him getting knocked out.
Awesome post man. You nailed it too. I remember those threads back then about Crawford supposedly having no chance at all. I know this isn't going to happen because there are too many over emotional infants on this board, but it would be great if for once after a fight this big, people could just credit the winner as the better man instead of calling the loser a shot over rated hypejob, or creating a thread naming X fighter (past or present) that would "destroy" whoever wins.
Yes i agree with your points about the fans, i believe most of the fans will give the winner his credit & even the loser of the match as both men have great will & heart so i don't see either man going down in the column books without giving it their all, which is all you can expect and want from your choice of fighter, Though as always their will be a number of disrespectful fans rolling down the waves & though i never had twitter or instagram, i have seen the comments there are beyond harsh along with the irrational lies, hate & plain racism they ensue, Those fans will come ready once the match is over regardless, The sad thing is both Crawford & Spence could have been up to their third fight by now & given the true fans of the sport so much more with the results of those fight's going either way, rather than this One Impending Fight...................
Simple and effective is all you need to succeed in boxing. Spence is underappreciated like Mike McCallum.
What are you basing that thought on though? Spence is better than Porter, less sloppy, has much better defense than Porter, has more power to keep Terrence honest, has as good of a beard as Porter and isn't coming off over a year layoff with one foot out the door like Porter. I don't see any logical reasoning for thinking Spence won't do at least as well as Porter.
Crawford will not stand in front of Spence to trade punches. His angle and rythm will frustrate Spence. Crawford by UD or late stoppage.
