I have a very similar one about Johnson somewhere, weirdly, but it's just a random newspaper writer. 1908 was the date.
I thought Kelly was rather harsh myself ,its just for interest ,I am sure there are as many positive opinions from Jeffries contemporaries.
Yeah, just like Johnson. The one I have is more about his resume. It states (ridiculously) that Johnson isn't qualified to challenge for Burns title. It is interesting though, that both had very harsh critics even in their pomps.
Neither was seen as a particularly dynamic performer, Jeffries was cautious,Johnson ultra cautious. I find Johnson boring to watch .If you paid to watch him under -perform ,as he frequently appears to have done ,I doubt you would become his fan .He was on a guarantee against O Brien, and cynically exploited the rules of the contest , basically pissing on his public.
