He's struggled for many years now. He was drinking with a group of homeless blokes during the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in a park and he had his Olympic torch with him. They thought that he'd stolen it and a couple of them took it off him and handed it in to a police station - he eventually convinced the police who he was and he got the torch back.
He's never really been off the drugs or drink since he was fighting - I think there's plenty of people that will help him out when he wants to help himself.

Like i said Ellis , ive actually witnessed , him have a go at a bloke , taking the **** out of this fella , because he had a scotch accent , when the bloke brought his kid up to ask for his autagraph , did he get the autograph , No he got the **** took out of his accent , with a c'mon , say something , cos i'm in the mood sort of look at the bloke , some there thought it was funny , i thought it was disgusting .

He definitely had the skills though, his win over Alberto Cortes in his 6th pro fight was impressive. It was on the undercard of Fenech-Nelson 2 at Princes Park. I was there in the Robert Heatley Stand, very far from the ring . Huge waste of talent.

 

Yous do not thing, I am sitting with him rite now and he has been doing well working. He's father is still alive He seen him yesterday. He is doing personal training, I have been training with with him on and off for the last 4 years.. As for underachieving! He won a olympic medal, a commonwealthough medal, Canada cup medals, kings cup medals, president cup medal, oceanic champion, didn't lose Australian championships for 10 years and that's just as an amateur so underachieved. And have you ever had personal issues, they are called personal for a reason. Would he better off not achieving any thing at all?

Spike lost to Russian Vyacheslav Yanovskiy in the final at Seoul. Pretty sure he avenged that loss when he later fought Yanovskiy in Australia.

 

Cheney was diagnosed as manic depressive about 15 years ago, and last heard was on an invalid pension. He has also spent time at a psychiatric centre at Orange. If he is keeping himself busy training people that comes as great news.
