Do people really still think that Mayweather would beat Pavlik? Maybe Andre the Giant should be his next foe.
Pavlik by late TKO Spinks is very slick, cagey and hard to hit clean, but Taylor helped Spinks out by not throwing any punches. Pavlik would be throwing punches, he may not land very much at first, but unlike Taylor, Pavlik would be bringing the heat, and eventually catch Spinks and take him out.
Pavlik would have given Spinks a beating...end of discussion I swear ever since Hopkins beat Pavlik,EVERYBODY beats kelly now
Dig up the threads. My standard response for them is, "If Mayweather thought he could beat Pavlik they would be calling him out so Mayweather could take his titles". Deaf ears on that one. Always. :yep
haha, you're right and though mayweather may not believe it/have the guts i honestly think it's possible. Pavlik KO or Mayweather decision. I'd put money on it and i really, really like Pavlik but I'll give it to mayweather
Mayweather doesn't call anyone out unless he's 100% certain he could beat someone. I think Mayweather could beat Pavlik (and I don't think I'd favor him), but it's certainly risky enough that it would be out of character for him to call out Pavlik.
Maybe it is just that image of his 'pack' scattering after he broke Big Show's nose. Always have the same nursery rhyme pop into my head with that one. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
- I think Pavlik would beat Spinks by decision.... Jermain was able to do it, i dont see why Pavlik wouldnt when hed be throwing more punches and applying more effective pressure anyways.... Taylor was far from impressive that night and still pulled it off (if controversial) - I think Miranda beats Taylor. I think its a bad matchup for taylor who cant get out of the way from the right hand.... granted, maybe im selling taylor short a bit and giving miranda too much, taylor did go the distance with pavlik the second time and miranda has never beaten anyone on taylors level, but i just see that right hand finding its home on Taylor throughout, and with Taylor always backing up in straight lines... i think Miranda wins a tough close fight. I wouldnt be suprised though if Taylor stopped miranda eather though, Taylor is no joke and i understand he has to be the favorite in this matchup. just IMO
I think Pavlik would've beaten up Spinks a bit. JT just fought a very dumb fight. If he had let his hands go, he would've probably taken Spinks out. Pavlik has better stamina and would apply constant pressure. If he doesn't take Spinks out, he wins a UD.
As for JT/Miranda, i think the undefeated Miranda would've KOed JT. Stylistically, this is a good fight for Miranda. JT fights flat footed and he can't get out of the way of the right hand. Bad scenario for JT. I think had Miranda fought JT instead of Pavlik, he would've "exposed" JT to the fact that he doesn't do well against plodding, heavy handed fighters because his defense is awful.
Spinks get Knocked Cold in 4 round. anyone who simpy thinks Spinks outboxes KP is Dellusionsal or if you think he makes it to the final bell. 1t off just to crush hope Spinks fights nothing like B-hop. the only man to beat KP 2nd Spinks doesn't have the power to Get Kp's respect. 3rd and this is the most important Spinks doesn't turn his opponets and keep them off balance. he's more of a back peddler and tends to cirlce on the retreat he won't get close to smoother Kp's power. so how the **** does Spinks ke it to the final bell KP has a long HArd Jab and his Big right hand which is praticlaly Death to a Southpaw with a shakey Chin. IN no way does spinks Resemble B-hops gameplan(which was to give him angles and keep him turning). andthe reason JT had so much trouble with Spinks becuase he didn't utlize the jab enough and was trying to land round house punches he's always tended to telegraph. that and JT speed was negated by spinks own. KP tends to throw str8er shot and uses his fundamentals really well.
