It's for the IBF title. Has anybody heard what kind of shape Cory's in? That was a major concern of his handlers before, and rumored to be why the original date was scrapped.
I know his trainer left him because he came into camp over 200 pounds for the first fight, hopefully he's been dropping the weight since then, he'll need to if he doesn't want to be upset by Bundrage.
This will be in Spinks' hometown of St. Louis - but that didn't help him in the awful judges' rendering of his unsuccessful defense against Verno Phillips (another guy who relies on hustle, physicality and pressure like K9). Is he still under the dubious benefaction of Don King? There were whispers that he influenced the judges to screw his own man to get the title out of his hands, since Spinks wasn't a big draw due to his style. As for K9 - it seems he's freed himself of his own promotional shackles in splitting from the Tournament of Contenders (something all alum should do), and is now being trained by none other than Emanuel Steward, whose Kronk style was built to tame raw punchers and turn them into versatile threats. A slugfest of the type that Phillips was able to force with the now lead-legged slickster already favored Bundrage, and if he's able to pick up some improved boxing skills it bodes even more poorly for Spinks.
