Normally I would say this is going just a little bit to far.....Yet, in this case it seems mild and well within the boundries of a fair criticism.

Because the public knew what he was up to no good with womanizing and drinking, and poor training..i agree with you.

I was really thinking more about the David and Goliath match ups where the smaller fighter wins. And while twenty pounds is rare, it's far more common than forty or fifty, especially now that we don't do day of the fight weigh ins.

I lost $25 bucks on Cooney against Spinks back in '87...... I thought Cooney would KO Spinks inside 4 rds..... Cooney was in decent shape physically at 238 pounds, but mentally he was not into the fight game at all... Cooney got a nice check of $2.5 million smackers for this KO loss in Jersey, but I can't shed tears for Cooney at all..... Spinks was a well-tuned and focused 208 pound boxer / puncher... He broke Cooney down inside 5 rds.....

Conney should have knocked out Spinks easily and would have but he (Cooney) was high and drunk the night before the fight. Cooney
was drinking heavily and on drugs and it shows in this pathetic fight.
Cooney knew after the fact that he should have never lost to Spinks and
knew deep down that he messed his career up by his problems outside the ring.

This fight said more that was negative about Cooney than what was positive about Spinks....although I give Spinks props for this ko, a guy as big and strong as Cooney had no business having the **** beat out of him like that. it should be positively embarrassing for Cooney to live this one down.
