those 2 fights were before he got embarrassed by lesser fighter in Verno Phillips and losing in his hometown. That was a sign that he was on the downslide. Spinks got very lucky against Mayorga too.

There was a time I though Spinks was on his way to becoming a pound 4 pound machine- the way Williams seems now. After he beat judah the first fight, he was about to go locking horns with FLoyd- and i think he would have given floyd a great fight- a southpaw , whos 5'10, long arms- great jab and reflexes. had ALOT of talent.

then he came out with Nelly in the Judah Rematch doing the A-town stomp and Brooklyn shake, and got his head knocked off. But yeah- defineteley had the talent to tangle with the very very best in the game at one stage.

 

I hear he is looking to avenge his fathers loss to Tex Cobb.
