The outcome was no surprise but a wasted fight for Chocolatito.

Yes there is, and this was clearly one of them.

I'm a big Gonzalez fan and expect more from him. He's had 2 really good opponents in the last 2 years, I expect more from a future hall of famer.

This victory proved nothing. He fought and undeserving challenger.:deal

Miura called out Uchiyama for a rematch

Fuentes was hardly a "wasted" fight, if you want a wasted fight look at Gallo's next one.

Gonzalez already had a couple of tuneups before the Yaegashi fight. Besides, a championship fight should not be a tune-up vs an undeserving opponent.

5 out of his last 7 opponents were coming off a loss. That's not acceptable for somebody of Chocolatito's caliber.

I'm not going to defend Estrada's next opponent but at least he's not coming off a loss. And Gallito has been on a better run of opponents than Chocolatito.

Coming off a close loss in a long over-due world title fight in Thailand to a guy who has since go on to beat Ioka? Man what a bum Fuentes is huh! Whilst coming in on a close win over Julian Rivera is something to be applauded?

Estrada's fights in the last 12 months have only been against Mepranum and Segura, a mandatory. In the same time we've seen Gonzalez beating Kantun, Purisma, Yaegashi and Fuentes. A combination of top tied (Yaegashi), solid contenders (Fuentes) and a couple of stay busy fights including one used as a "get me on the same show as Yaegashi" fight.

Go back a further 2 months and Gonzalez also has wins over Blanquet (who gave Yaegashi a good test and is now fighting out of Japan) and Francisco Rodriguez Jr (who unified titles less than a year later).

At the lower weights some fighters fight regularly to collect the extra pay days, it's why Wonjongkam did it so often and it appears to be why Gonzalez does it.

I'd rather see fighters staying active, if they can't get the big fights every time then lets at least see them fighting every few months. This bout came what, 8 weeks after the Yaegashi one?
