He stayed down because the fight was waved off. The stoppage was premature. If the guy is about to fall down, let him fall, and start the 10 count, that is what the count is for.

If the fighter is out on his feet and unable to defend himself but doesn't go down because he's being punched in the mouth, the ref steps in, that's boxing. Now as soon as the ref stepped in, giving the poor kid some air, he fell down. If the ref doesn't step in, Kessler keeps up feeding him brutal right hands to KTFO Perdomo for your joy. Well, fortunately it didn't happen.

How many fight have you ever seen?

Kessler looked a bit rusty for around a round and a half, but that's to be expected considering he hasn't fought since last October. But at the end of round two you could see him start to get his timing down when he began to slip Perdomo's left hands and counter with combinations.

The stoppage was about one punch premature. Another right hand for Kessler would have ended matters definitively, but I'm not exactly mad at the referee for stopping it when he did.

People can say what they want about Perdomo. But he at least came to fight and I'm sure he put up more resistance than Ward will face tonight against Shelby Pudwill.

I think Kessler power in both his jab and right hand are awesome. He has the potential to knock out every opponent he faces in the super 6 and i think that may be worth a bet

yeah if arturo gatti had refs like that, he wouldnt be the legend he is today with the big comebacks...he was hurt often in his fights and knocked down...in a world title fight, let the guy take his ass whipping or give him a chance to come back....... i mean after all, hes the WBA #1 contender...what a joke and sham this fight was anyway

He fell over cuz the ref waved it off. Let the fight go a little longer. Premature. Does it change the outcome, probably not.. but still bull**** stoppage. Pulled the trigger as soon as he could.. ref couldn't wait to stop it.

Good showing by Kessler. Perdomo slumped like a sack of **** after the ref let him go, If he hadn't stepped in he'd have been a right hand away form being unconcious.

Kessler just dropped 2 rounds to a bum, and then was given an early stoppage.

Not what I expected at all...

It doesn't matter that much, but I don't think he was that badly hurt. The referee is supposed to intervene to protect a fighter's safety who is about to get seriously hurt and who hasn't got a good chance of recovering. In this instance, Perdomo was stunned; but he certainly wasn't on the verge of death. He could have let it go on a little longer, just to see if he could have fought his way off the ropes or blocked a few shots and recuperated.

I think Kessler better hope the super 6 crew are as limited as Perdomo. The punch that started the finish wouldn't have dropped a decent lightweight,Perdomo was looking for a way out.Kessler missed with 6 punches when the man was on the ropes.
The super 6 is now looking way more interesting,Kessler best sharpen up.

Good stoppage if one is concerned about the health of Perdomo. That punch that the ref saved for the sapless Venezulean would have felled him into oblivion.

Bit rusty Kessler, and some precision was off. But he looked strong, alas a bit slower than previous. He tends to get hit more than in the past as well, but it could all be due to ring rust.

Otherwise a great performance, where the differences in class were apperant.

    what rounds?

He had Perdomo staggered with his jab alone and put him down once before the stoppage. Well, not really a solid knockdown but it still was a knockdown.

This was a tuneup for the tournament, he's been spending more time in court than in the ring lately. He had a good showing despite all that and did what he was supposed to do.
