A highly motivated Alberto Topo Rosas (31-5, 25 KOs) dethroned IBF super flyweight champion Simphiwe Nongqayi (16-0-1, 6 KOs) via six round beatdown on Saturday night at the Palenque de la Feria in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico. A punished Nongqayi, who did a lot of trash-talking before the bout, finally could take no more and went to a knee, prompting the bout to be waved off at the :60 mark. Rosas avenged the losses of the Arce brothers Jorge and Francisco, who were both defeated by Nongqayi. In a bantamweight clash between former world champions, Jorge Travieso Arce (55-6-1, 42 KOs) destroyed comebacking Martin Gallito Castillo (35-4, 18 KOs) with a first round knockout. A shot to the body put Castillo down for the count. Time was 2:56.
