I think that is a bit high myself . . . i do not see anything special about his skill if he were to face anyone above him (if they were the same size) he would get his ass kicked. He is by far (with his brother) the best heavy out there but the heavies are so crappy now. I only see the bros in the top 20, top 15 for wlad I can live with. I think everybody agrees that Bhop is not #6 anymore. But these list are so sticky that he does fall fast until he loses. I think he is and was a bit over rated for a while now his best days where when he fought Tito. Yes he knocked out a blown up Oscar, he beat tarver who signature wins were over old quickly RJJ (no one did it before so his stock rose quickly), Pavlik (who had the power, that Bhop did not, to KO Taylor but not the skill to be the old timer B-hop), Calslappy, who one purely because he threw a higher volume of punches (not that those slaps are very effective) and Oh yeah a blown up Winky (who look slow and like crap at that weight) I do not even consider the RJJ a victory of any sort. It is also hard to not have bhop on the list because it is so hard seeing anyone easily beating him cleanly.
Speaking of things that get more and more ******ed as they go on, are you going to keep posting in every thread?
:yep But I thought that in the p4p sense, one fighter gets to keep the advantages he enjoys at the actual weight class he fights. So if I understand this correctly, Wlad Klitshcko would continue to enjoy a significant size and reach advantage and keep his big punching power, if we imagine him going h2h with other top fighters of other weight classes. I think few of them would be able to beat him. To me, having Marquez and Hopkins above Klitschko in the p4p rankings doesn't make a lot of sense.
Everybody would not come in at the weight limit 201 it would be 250 or what ever he is at. he could still hold a height and reach advantage but everybody size would grow proportionally so it may not be the case (arreolla is a short fat **** at 280). To be fair obviously you would have to decrease the fighter's speed and quickness (and maybe stamina). Under this standard I say top 15 for any current heavy is a gift ( but like I said if anybody deserves it it would be wlad) I would rank admeck and Haye higher if they still at cruiser but their skill (power increase) is not enough to take in consideration the increased weight.
Paul Williams number 3? Does SI do anything other than look at stats. For a guy with that 81" reach and 6'1 height advantage, he was beat by 5'7 Quintana once and got a gift in a borderline robbery against 5'10 Martinez. He's not to be feared. Aslo, why is Martinez number 11? Even before pulled the rug out from under Pavlik, I would have put him in the top 10. Now, I'd says number 5. Williams should be number 11. Sadly, I can't blame them for pulling Pavlik out of the top 15. Until he gets his **** together with a real win or two again, he needs to be on the outside looking in.
I think the fight was really close and could have gone either way (the score cards were a joke) so I think they should be closer together on any list if pwill is 3 then sergio should be 3b. I say they should be in the middle of any top ten list edit: You listed pwill weak spots but you forget what he did do great . . . at least be a little fair!
Awesome list greatly demonstrated facts and descriptions of fighters like it better than the Ring or Boxrec
I don't get this. Most fighters at lower classes don't walk around or balloon up to freakishly higher weights than their weight class limit. They definitely would have the chance to come in at a higher weight, but not much higher. And in Wlad's case it's not his weight that makes the difference in his fights, it's his power, height and reach. I don't see how it is a gift for an excellent fighter like Wlad to be above guys like Haye, Marquez and Hopkins, especially the last two who have clearly deteriorated in the last few years and they don't have any really significant wins recently, while Wlad is at the top of his game.
It is pound for pound so they must be equal weight . . . they may not have the same height or reach if they are 250 but what we are trying to measure the skill if they are the exact same weight. Skill is what we are trying to measure p4p
Granted, but even skillwise Wlad should be rated higher than most people give him credit for in those lists. And I don't think the physical advantages that a fighter enjoys should be wiped out of the equation when we're talking p4p. You could put Pacquiao and Paul Williams in the ring both weighing 147, still the exact same weight doesn't mean PW wouldn't enjoy his enormous height and reach advantage over the much smaller Pac.
