what about the level of competition every time I have watched darts it only seems like half a dozen countries play it
Was really surprised G Mac or Westwood didn't make the top 3. I thought G mac would of took it with the year he had or Westwood because he took the number 1 spot.
How can you compare across sports in terms of achievements? A gymnast has until their early 20's realistically to achieve as much as they can before retiring. Many sports have age limitations due to their bodies not being as young as they were. Phil Taylor is 50 years old and still at the top of his hobby because he doesn't need to be in any physical shape at all apart from avoiding Parkinsons.
I think that's probably fair, until Kluft either says she is giving up heptathlon for good or Ennis beats her there will always be a little question mark in some people's minds. Plus she hasn't won the Olympics yet - the worlds don't have the same prestige.
I think the pair of them split the golf vote. If G-Mac was English, he would have won it in my opinion.
You look in the current PDC World Darts Championships, look how many nationalities are represented, there is more than half a dozen. Also its not the level of competition, Taylor has just been miles ahead of the rest.
Must be right. Can't see any other reason one of them wouldn't of made the top 3 other than that. I'd agree with "if G-Mac was english he would of won" as well. Will be a long time before a british golfer pulls what Macdowell done this year. Seen him on soccer am the other day and they barely mentioned anything other than the ryder cup.
Why has no-one else ever come close to Taylor in Darts then? Also of if we are going by that logic, we can't compare Football, Tennis, Boxing with Darts because they all have multiple majors to win but all people talk about with Taylor is his World titles.
OK, so let's take boxing as a yardstick for measuring Taylor's achievements. What, in your opinion, would a British boxer have to achieve to match what Taylor has done in his career?
I'm not so sure about that..... I think it's more likely that the golf vote was split between the two. At least it wasn't some F1 driver getting in there.
I know that mate but what I meant is when people talk about Federer (its alway he's won 16 Major titles) or with Tiger Woods (its he's won 14 Major titles) but what I meant is when people talk about Taylor, they only mention he's won 15 World titles, they don't mention his other titles. I think that show's how big an achievement winning 15 World titles is and how dominant he has been, I hope you get this post lol. EDIT: Beeston Brawler, did you mean the BDO World Championships when you meant two majors??
Good question lol. Probably do something similar to what Manny Pacquiao has done, don't forget there is only one World Championship in the PDC and there is 4 major titles in each weigh division in Boxing.
Also when I am comparing Taylor's achievements with other sports, I aren't saying Darts is as tough as Boxing because its nowhere near.
