There were a few years while Barney was winning the BDO where it was debate who was the best. Berney was hitting similar numbers to Phil for a number of years whilst they both attempted to win different versions of the "World Title". These days, the only one to win is the PDC because the BDO has gone to **** but I think Barney and maybe others would have won a few of those titles off Phil pre-2005.

Barney has been shot for a number of years now though.

Ok it was a little ignorant of me to suggest that only people from a couple of countries compete in darts i did'nt check the pdc but i will take your word for it

My point is though when you compare the training and prep Taylor (2nd) has to do compared to what Ennis (3rd) has to do being a heptathlete

    Taylor training :

    1. Work on throwing technique

    2. Work on hand eye co-ordination (Is that possible ???)

    3. ...........................

    Ennis Training

    1. Work on Strength

    2. Work on Speed

    3. Work on Stamina

    4. Train 7 Different events to a very high level

    5. Stick to a very strict diet

I understand that Taylor is a very talented darts player but in my opinion he is not on the same level in terms of being a sportsman/woman.

Darts, like snooker, is all about practise and more practise. You've just got to put the hours in. It shouldn't be a determining factor in an award such as this though. Taylor is a master at mind games as well, he bullies people mentally.

I totally agree with that point but they can't just compare sports like that because if they did, it would just be the Boxers, Athletes or Tennis players getting all the awards and it would be kinda putting down the achievements of other sportspeople.

    Haye got just 7,538 votes.

Can't argue with the top 2 imo, I see the arguments against them but these 2 guys have dominated their sports for 15 years +

Has it been mentioned that Haye came last in the voting with 7000 votes compared to McCoys 293000

Even so, horse-racing is the second biggest spectator sport in the UK.

It's a fair reflection on the intelligence of the British public IMO.

Only an utter idiot would vote for Haye, based on his achievements (or lack thereof) this year.

Old Ruiz and Aud the Fraud doesn't make you a household name, it's as simple as that.

He's desperate to be a big name and a cross over star, but in order to do so as a boxer you've got to put your neck on the line in tough fights. David won't, which is a shame.

293,000 votes for McCoy!! That's staggering. If my memory serves me correctly, Calzaghe won it a couple of years ago with 177,748.

I expect not even turning up will have seriously hurt his voting numbers I dont think it really reflects on boxing as a whole though.
