    This was a joke

Jessica Ennis should have won, or Carl Froch (oh wait, nobody's heard of him, despite him winning a world title, defending it, losing it, and winning it back against the toughest opposition in the sport).

When a darts player is winning 2nd place it just goes to show that the Sports Personality of the Year is a completely meaningless award and I wouldn't bother turning up for it if I was nominated

ennis is a good shout. But I still think McCoy is the best shout. Total dedication, bravery, strength, great tactical mind, unreal discipline and an insane appetite for success....He competes in a relatively popular sport globally (horse racing) and is probably considered the top 5 greatest jockey of all time over all racing disciplines (jump and flat). Its not about just sitting on the back of a hose and getting it to go flat out, it takes a lot more than that.....Probably one of the most deserving winners of the award ever...

Congrats to McCoy, most deserving winner and finally winning the grand national this was the right year to give it to him.
