put boxing on network television and boxing would soar in popularity. it's all about accessibility. Let's face it, good boxing can only be found on hbo/showtime or pay per view. i hate mma. i think its one step above the wwf or whatever they call it nowadays :hi:
I don't think it matters much (as the names are originally Russian and can be translated both ways, just like Valuev is called Nikolai or Nicolay). I like Wladimir though, because then it shortens to WK while his brother is VK.
I have said this for years now. People always talk about how sports writers score fights, and how radio/tv personalities discuss them, ect... and I always try to explain that most of those guys don't know **** about boxing.
They all do, so does Bernstein, I have already heard him confuse Lance "Goofy" Whitaker for Dervall Williamson, though thats an easy mistake to make considering both men are tall with similiar builds, he has also messed up by mispronouncing people's names as well. I dont think we have to talk about how many times Merchant or Lewis goofed up during there telecasts, I thinks thats what makes it enertaining IMO.
I agree with your "scared" comment, but I think Wlad would render Lennox unconcious. The man has power!
Most sports writers don't know their boxing as well as us fans do...especially general sports writers who don't specialize in boxing. Skip Bayless, for example, said Michael Jordan is a greater athlete than Muhammad Ali because "Ali lost to Leon Spinks in his prime."
man...thats terrible i was asking people at work if they will be watching the fight this weekend and nobody knew if there was any fight going on,,,and once i told them that its bantamweights, nobody gave a rats ass.....
That's truly ashame considering those two bantamweights fighting are giving fans some of the best fights in history.
That is sad, but it's always been that way, noone ever really cared about the little guys for the most part.
