I have done something similar to this at my park theres a hill about 50-60m long I sprint to the top and do 10 push ups and jog back down, repeat 8-10 times. killer!!
You can't really get a good anaerobic workout from skipping rope though, which is what the thread is about. If you're at a reasonable level of aerobic fitness and you're familiar with skipping there isn't much you can do to stress your body to improve your fitness. Double unders, high knees and as fast as you can is as much as you can push it and doing that isn't even close to being comparable to hill sprints imo.
I guess everyone is different, double unders, high knees, sprints, squats if you can all seem to be a better anaerobic workout for me.
agreed i skip alot and do on/off intense skipping as fast as possible, 30 seconds on 30 sec rest ect, but i still consider it a warm up ready for my main anaerobic conditioning
i can do all those and whilst hard and do obviously get your heart rate up, i still dont find it as intense as a quality sprint session , hill sprints or otherwise or for that matter lots of anaerobic based exercises
I've got a good one I'm doing at the moment .... Pick a good cross country run that would normally take you 20 mins at a good pace. Set your clock to 3 min rounds with a 45 sec rest... Try and finish the run in 6 rounds- with no movement during the intermissions - I can run like a rowandan but this run ****s me up entirely.
