I was at Prize Fighter in bethnal green, London last night and watched Michael Sprott take the crown. Sprott looked impressive, head and shoulders above the rest. After Haye deals with audley, which im certain he will, could we see a final fight between Sprott and Harrison? Both Prizefighter winners and both have scored devastating knockouts over each other previously? If the rematch did happen, who wins and why?
I think most would. Sprott's had a long hard career and not much luck en route to where he is today. Personally, I think he should try and engineer World honours and he deserves his shot. After seemingly ending Harrison's pretentions he failed so miserably against Skelton. He was pounding Harrison but got caught because he looked decent up until that point. It was nice to see him win PrizeFighter after what's been a hard few month for him.
i think harrison takes it. providing he is able to throw his right hand that is. sprott should look at fighting chisora, fury or rogan next IMO or maybe sosnowski for the vacant european belt?
I was thinking the exact same thing last night! I think Sprott could beat him, he was winning the last one wasnt he before that left hook- but have to see what he does from now on.
The fact that Sprott was head and shoulders above the rest actually says more about his opponents than it actually says about Sprott. After his win against Harrison he went 2-5 in his next 7 fights coming into the tourney, only beating 16-21-2 Zack Page and 7-13-1 Werner Kreiskott. This guy is far from a worldbeater. Journeyman level... barely.
this may be so. but since he just beaten skelton and won the prizefighter tourney, he is in the domestic mix up again. an is exactly the level of fighter chsora needs to prove he is above.
Hasn't he already done that by beating Williams and Sexton (twice) on TKO? Sexton had already proven to be the leader of the pack domesticly, does Derek really has to beat up Skelton and Rogan also to show he's superior to them? :huh
no thats not true. williams announced his retirement pre-fight, and judgin his performance in prizefighter a kayo was expected. he beat sexton ye, in a very good fight, but sexton was not the leader of the pack at all. infact skelton was ranked above them both. and sexton got fortunate vs rogan in the first fight, and the second ended cos of injury. ths is the problem with the young prospects, they only have one good wn each. fury has mcdermott, chisora has sexton, and sexton has rogan. they need to be fighting each other. sprott now has wins over skelton and harrison, which is much more than chisora has achieved. im not saying chisora has to fght everyone, but sprott and fury should be a minimum requirement really.
How do you figure the Sprott fight and the fury fight would end? Hypothetical: Chisora vs Sprott 12 rounds for the British and Commonwealth title. Chisora vs Fury (same bout). Take your picks! (I'm thinking to start a poll)
i would put a poll up but in the general forum people will say chisora destroys them even tho they have probably never seen either of them fight. as for pics. i think sprot UD's chisora. but it is like 51/49 chisora vs fury is completely 50/50 and i cant pick a winner. that is why these domestic fights should happen, so t isnt down to debate. we can then say "fury beat mcdermott, sprott, chisora and rogan, he is now ready for the step up" or likewise with chisora. it is too late for sprott to really achieve anything, but it is a perfect time for a prospect to beat him.
I get what you mean, I was thinking the same thing when I was thinking about putting up a poll so it wouldn't be representitive. But what I don't get is why you're so high on Sprott? You don't even had to have seen his recent fights to get he's on a really steep downward slope since his major upset win over Harrison early 2007, what made Audley the joke of an entire nation, surely after losing to Rogan also. Wich performance after that gives you the idea he stil has what it takes? His almost win against Harrison for the vacant EBU title, or winning yesterdays HW Prizefighter with a final against 40+ Skelton?
im not high on sprott, as i said, he will never move above domestic level. but he is very experienced, and has beaten skelton and harrison when he was the underdog both times. but what m saying is, if chsora fought sprott and kayoed him in impressive fashion, it would boost his standing in the domestic game. chisora hasnt really done much except outlast a fat sexton. harrison beat him with one shot and skelton just lost to him. i see the fight as a 50/50 affair. chisora is very green and sprott is very experienced, the winner of that would probaably be seen number 3 behind haye and harrison. as for fury, they're at the same level so it is a complete toss up, both have looked good, and both have looked bad.
Harrison will retire after hayes fight with real neurological damage... He will be eating that big right all night.
