Not really true. While TR might have dropped the ball on Oscar v Floyd, Top Rank DID bring them both up to stardom. Only as highly established stars did they leave for their own promotions.

And yet that's irrelevant to Top Rank making Oscar the star we know.

How did Arum make him a star? He was destined to be a star.

It's called matchmaking and bringing them up. Also....that's the promoters job. "Destined" doesn't mean **** w/o the right bringing up. Many guys 'destined' to be stars got derailed. Whether you like it or not, Top Rank made Oscar who he is.

    this is true
As he had the SRL gold medal winning blue print & mentored countless other ATGs
The Bobfather is the OG Star creator.
And truth be told probably might have been behind the initial shenanigan training for both SRL & ODLH

You really don't care TT. Can tell when you are just playing devil's advocate. Look, it bothers you for some reason Bob father made Oscar. But you should be thanking him. Could another promoter have done the same? Probably. But they didn't.

Bringing up a fighter is sort of a science. The matchmaking plays an integral part. That was a part of Golden Boy Promotion's weakness. Early on, and for years, they didn't really develop anyone.

He didn't have to, you know there are scouts watching sparring sessions right?. Boxing is almost like every other sport as far sa talent goes..he was fighting Shane, Pea, Chavez, Gonzales in the gyms

Still, it was TR that brought him up and matched his perfectly. TR made the fights. Top Rank promoted the hell outta Oscar. Was TR and mgmt that put him on every talk show/radio show.

Oscar did NONE of that on his own. But when he tried to go on his own with GBP, he faltered. His own 'Golden Boy' in Francisco Bojado got whooped early and left for dead. He lost cable contracts. Had his friend try to be the matchmaker. And they developed no real stars from scratch. They had Canelo, then lost him in his prime.

GBP thought they could simply do what TR did using Oscar's star power and connections. It proved MUCH more difficult than that.
