I say Jones showed the most talent but leonard could pull out some astonishing shots and combos

Ray did it against a much higher level of opposition

An alternate question would be "Who 'cherry-picked' their opponents more?"

Still, though, I wonder if I've seen anyone with as much raw talent as Jones. I don't care for his style (or many of his career choices) very much, but the things he got away with even against very good/great opposition... It was like he lived in a different plane of time. Like everything around him moved in slow motion while he moved in normal time. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Roy was great, but his style was sort of to avoid punches. Ray's style was to win the fights and be competitive even when fighting the tough guys he fought. It is hard to imagine Roy's style in a drag out fight. Many people talk now about front runners and fighters who do well when they are winning, and then folding when they have resistance. That was Roy a little. Ray met the resistance. But as far as talent and speed, Roy had it.

I'm not disagreeing. I like Leonard's style more. Except for when he was boxing/running, he was great to watch. Jones is more boring, IMO, but also more astonishing.

I think Ray didn´t rely on this physical abilities/talent as much as Roy. He was better in a technical, fundamental way and risked more.

I think Jones was the more sensational and talented but Ray was the more impressive fighter, if you know what I mean.

    Spot on :good

Jones was such an amazing physical specimin in his prime that virtually everyone he met was at a disadvantage to begin with. His ability to land hard, lightning fast, accurate punches from any angle and then easily avoid anything in return would have been nigh on impossible to prepare for.

Leonards more aggressive mind set and willingness to stand and trade at least gave you a chance and led to many more exciting and competitive fights, although he also had all the physical tools to safely dominate an opponent imo.

It's only a matter of time before Red Rooster is all over this thread I'd have thought.

Higher but not much higher, Hagler and Hearns are overall P4P a little better than Toney and Hopkins and the latter 2 are P4P better than Benitez

Well, Ray still fought them though. I´d give Roy the edge here. Not by much though.

Roy was more talented. No doubt about it my mind.

Jones is more sensational because of what he could do with his sheer athleticism and how dominant it could make him. SRL is clearly more talented as a boxer and a more complete fighter though
