Anytime someone mentions Norris and Camacho with respect to Leonard's career I know immediately that the person is either 1) an idiot, or 2) completely ignorant of boxing history. Leonard 'retired' for years. When he came back he was 1/3 the fighter he was, on drugs, out of shape. Even he said he should never have come back after Hagler (and even that comeback after 3 years off was insane). SRL (who weighed in at 147 the DAY OF THE FIGHT) would destroy Floyd. Floyd is an ATG fighter at 130-135. He'd take a canvas nap against Leonard at WW.
Dance and potshot who? SRL is taller, longer reach , bigger, faster, stronger, tougher, and he's a better boxer then Floyd. He's better then Floyd in every category minus defense. Floyd is too small and wouldnt be able to do anything to keep Leonard off of him. The first couple rounds would be feel out then Leonard would begin dropping the hammer without any care for retaliation.
Much as I'm sick of this **** week after week, for once I've had to think about this.147 would mean Ray all day but as far as I know,he hasn't won one fight at 146. Tough call for once.:think
I think Mayweather would be in for a rude awakening sharing the ring with Leonard; the guy is on another planet compared to the people Mayweather has fought; Leonard UD or late TKO.
It is a matter of Ray being a little bigger, with speed and more heart than Floyd. Floyd is not the fighter Ray was.
And with a hell of a lot more power and viciousness! And Ray closed as well as any fighter in history. Floyd would slip a lot of punches, but the ones he didn't slip would take their toll in a major way. Floyd would get stopped for the first time in his career.
Yeah, I really don't think Mayweather would fight him. He definitely wouldn't go anywhere near Hearns either. I could see him taking on Duran, but no idea how that would play out.
