the records show that giardello beat srr. my question is is could joey g have beaten a younger srr more in his prime than the almost past it srr that he fought?

I definitely think on his best night he could whip a Ray Robinson around the Fullmer/Basilio years, perhaps even around the time of the Olson fights too..

Joey's chin is a great asset to have against a sharp shooter like Ray... It would definitely hold him in good stead in the patches where a slugging match breaks out.

Not to compare apples and oranges, but as Jack Dempsey lost by kayo to Jim Flynn ,who Dempsey later kod in 1 round, I saw an acquaintance of mine Harold Green flatten Joey Giardello in 1950 with a single left hook
that left Joey dead in his 30th bout. Things happen ...
