do you think srr would decline 3 separate offers that would take care of all his debt and leave enough to stay very comfortable for his and all his kids lives ?

that is the question and the only question that matters.. i dont know any fighter that would do such a thing. never mind a fighter that is in extreme debt withe IRS

oh great, you can name the few occasions where it happened. That is a credit to his great defense that you point to the particular cases when he actually got hit.

Posters here are beyond stupid if they think Floyd can get in the ring with the likes of SRL, SRR or Duran and not get hit.

Yeah out of 202 fights and almost all of his losses were after the age of 40. He has more fights after the age of 40, then floyd has had in his whole 18 year career. No way would Floyd be undefeated if he fought as many times as Robinson

Ray turned Pro the same weight as Floyd, in the non hydrating era....stop making excuses

In 1941 Sugar Ray Robinson was still fighting in his 130s lbs

of course he'd get hit. Would he got sparked out in a couple rounds? Do think Pernell, Locche or Pep could get sparked out like that?

I think any fighter can get sparked out by someone with speed and power, especially if the defensive fighter doesn't have to power to get the respect of the aggressor.

I don't think Floyd has nearly the power that you do and so while he can hold his own in this era and against those in the smaller divisions, I don't like his chances as he moves up in weight, or if he'd fighting an ultra aggressive power puncher like Duran. Absent those type of fighters I think he could beat almost anyone.

Another thing to remember is p4p SRR is no worse that 3rd and many have him 1st, while SRL and Duran are both close to p4p top 10 fighters. The best consensus about Floyd at this time is that he's no better than top 30, some have him outside the top 50, so while he's a great, great fighter, he's not all that great in the context of who you're talking about, especially if someone like SRR is a bigger guy to begin with.

I haven't seen any srr fights yet, but based on what i read, i'm afraid for jr's health.

Plus if floydie knows that he would fight srr, he wouldn't come out of his mama's womb or let other tadpoles win the race.

I understand what you're saying, but Ray Robinson wasn't a pressure fighter. He was a boxer puncher. Floyd wouldn't necessarily have to get his respect or keep him off of him. This fight would mostly be fought at distance.

Here's Ray in his prime 114-1-2 against Dykes.

Could Ossie Harris 45-51-6 go the distance?
Could Henry Brimm 20-7-1 go the distance?
Could Bobby Lee 22-8-4 go the distance?
Could Don Lee 44-16-9 go the distance?
Could Billy Brown 59-31-8 go the distance?
Could Floyd Mayweather 45-0 go the distance?

Srr wouldn't manage to lay a glove on Floyd. That's because Floyd wouldn't go within a mile of the ring in which stands a beast such as srr. I mean the guys avoided a midget all his life

Ray would go in with the true understanding that Floyd is a excellent defensive fighter and that hitting him with a clean shot to the head is just too much work, coupled with Floyd's conditioning and counter punching ability makes that task even harder.

I think Ray knowing the obvious would use he foot and hand speed to outpoint floyd rather then trying to knock him out. Floyd defensive/counter punching style does allow for periods of inactivity which can be taken advantage of. I do not Ray using over used plans of pressure , pressure , pressure and then look for a late round KO once floyd has slowed ! Floyd is way too conditioned and is a excellent inside fighter, for that plan to work.

id go along with something like this, but the general rule of thought is that srr kos everyone who ever lived and anyone who says otherwise is dumb.
