At Tommy Gilmour's St. Andrews Sporting Club tonight, Clydebank, Scotland's Vinny Baldassara opened the show against Stourport warhorse, Ernie "Gypsy Boy" Smith in a sceduled 6 x 2's. What looked set to be quite an exciting scrap ended prematurely @ 1:39 in round 2, Paul Graham stopping the contest after Ernie suffered what looked like a horrible cut around the left eye. There was so much blood, you couldn't see where the cut was.

Next in was former Scottish amateur champ Yanko Pavlov of Glenrothes in his 3rd pro outing, going in 1 - 1, against debutant Mark Lewis from Mansefield, both scaled 13st 10lb. Lewis did well to last the distance under a barrage of wicked hooks to the body with Pavlov winning every round on ref Graham's card.

Top of the bill was 10 x 3's for the vacant British Masters Featherweight Championship after Birmingham's Anthony Hanna vacated. He had won it here last June on his 100th contest and had defended once. It was between Sid Razak of Birmingham and Glasgow prospect David Savage Jnr, undefeated in 7. It was officiated by Scotland's only A Star referee, Victor Loughlin, widely recognised as quickly becoming one of the country's finest and fresh from his well timed stoppage of Wayne Elcock against Matthew Macklin. It was a good contest but with Savage in control throughout, until the 8th, when Razak rocked Savage with a cracking shot. Had he jumped on Savage he may well have forced a stoppage but Savage managed to see out the round and the minute's rest was enough. David Savage was back in it and won the remainder for 99 - 91 on ref Loughlin's card.

At ringside, vocally supporting his mate, was Prizefighter contender Gary McArthur but he was straight home and off to bed at the final bell in anticipation of the £25,000 prize at the Prizefighter Lightweights at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, in eight days time.

That's only so they can afford to hire a top class MC :tong (tongue firmly in cheek)

Seriously, when I get home from a show I rarely go straight to bed, whatever the time.

Recently got a new laptop which is wireless, the old one was an antique. Before now I would heve had to go up to the loft to post a report, which would have woken the wife :| :patsch Now I will try to post straight after any show that I do while it's fresh in my mind.
