i had a draw on my card . I gave kicket the last two rounds ...several rounds where close though and could have gone either way .

but honestly there was no way kickett won by the margin given...

Total respect and admiration for what kickett did last night. 10 fights and he matched it with former world champion St Clair but he did not win it. St Clair forced the fight, dominated the ropes and threw 3 times the punches. His work rate was effective and his body work was 1st class. Kickett hard shots were crisp but few and far between. His jabs last night were a little ineffective on the back move and his switch hitting was shifting himself off balance. Gairy struggled in a few rds when kickett caught him but his resilience was awesome. The scores were embarrassing. I predicted a draw before the fight but Gairy high work rate and counters won him the fight by a few rounds.

I reckon TCW has the right idea, the two should fight again at the end of the year.

I had the fight a draw because I had absolutely no idea.

After the 5th round I turned off the volume because I felt that the commentators were only seeing the fight from one perspective. Sure St.Claire was throwing plenty of shots AND rolling forward but I'm a huge fan of fighters that use the ring while countering with clean crisp shots.

And how about that jab ??? It'll win him plenty of close fights!

Just because you are aggressive doesn't automatically mean you're dominating the fight (think Ali v Frazier) It's one reason I thought the Hopkins v Calzaghe fight was closer than others believe.

Plenty of GSC's shots were taken on the arms or half landed. Others were clean but lacked power. Kickett make his opponent miss while maintaining good acuracy.

As for him being this or that or as good as this guy or not.....he is the type of fighter that will improve as he gains experience and his style suggest that once he gets to the next level he'll be a definite contender for a world title.

Don't expect outstanding brilliance every fight, even Ali had his moments before winning the title (Henry Cooper + Sony Banks) Mundine went close to losing against Soliman in their first fight while Lionel Rose lost twice before becoming champ including his 5th fight to Singtong Por Tor who only won 3 fights in an 11 fight career.

*BTW, gotta love how he goes southpaw and uses his straight right.

I think Khan's a little futher along than Kickett, give Willie a few more fights to fine tune his game.

If they do end up fighting I want Karl Taylor v Peter Buckley on the undercard.
