i acually recently asked this question before but i think people got the wrong idea like it was a normal mountain to hike this mountain is practically 3km of stairs and rocks you have to constantly step over. It recently opened again for this summer. Ive been doing regular sprints and uphill sprints for over 3-4 months now and have noticed an increase in the time i got last year to the time i completed today. Last year my i made it to the end at an hour and 20 minutes, my first attempt included multiple breaks above 5-10 minutes. This year i was full on overconfident that i was going to go through it with ease because of my sprint training. I made it within 58 minutes, My breathing seemed to be fine till my legs gave out, then i felt like i had none, I had to use the ropes for support on the sides. If i ever had to say there was a "hell" on earth, this would it for me at least and i was just walking at a steady pace. I went without breaks this time but i know how it feels to be mentally broken again Now i still plan to do regular sprints, but for the rest of the season im thinking of going up the stairs every week. I was thinking that i could really run through those stairs and rocks in intervals but i cant even move at a pace where im moving slower than walking speed :-( I was thinking this would compliment my sprint training because the first thing to go is my legs. My leg endurance is lacking. im also accepting other input from others :happy
some stairs climing is good because it does not have "flight stage" like jogging, when both your legs are off the ground. This should be better for knees. I think, generally, the advice is to incorporate stair climbing slowing in your training, see how your body responds.
