I'll guess a 156 1/2 pound Duran who boxed, feinted, punched and coaxed his way for 15 rds with Hagler in 1983 would be too skilled and seasoned for Stanley Ketchel..... Infact, Duran's approach to Hagler would be perfect against Ketchel, too.... Stan Ketchel was a brawler who also did lotsa' posing, grabbing and holding on if he couldn't get his man outta there fast... If you look at old films of Ketchel you'll see plenty of posing, grabbing and holding... A guy like Duran who needs his rest up over 154 pounds would welcome some of these tactics... Hagler was a better all around pro fighter than the rugged and tuff Stanley Ketchel, and yet Duran was able to land some damn good punches as well as cut Hagler... If Duran can tag Hagler often enough to make a good show of it in '83, he too will nail Ketchel... Duran W15 Ketchel.... MR.BILL

Well, '83 Duran was age 32, so he's older than a 1909 / 1910 Ketchel. Plus, Duran is blown-up at 156 1/2 where as Ketchel is more natural between 154 to 160 pounds... Other than that, Duran is the better boxer and way more savvy.... Ketchel also was wild and reckless in many ways as far as his attack was concerned... A skilled pro like a 1983 Duran would see Ketchel's attack coming and either slip, block and counter in return with well placed shots on the wide open Ketchel... Duran is a far superior fighter on a P-4-P scale, but a weight of 154 to 160 pounds is a factor.... MR.BILL:hat

Plus, again, Duran being age 32 and 156 1/2 well trained pounds would welcome some of the posing, grabbing and holding in the middle rds in order to rest up a bit at middleweight...... I think Ketchel get to him late in the fight with his savage aggression and although Duran has been able to box and engage for most of the early to mid rounds...Ketchel comes on with his raw,ruthless relentlessness for the stop
Bum, I just don't know there my man...... Hagler in 1983 turned the heat on in rds 14 and 15 against a spent Duran and Duran managed to finish on his feet at the final bell... Hagler had the pressure on Duran, but Duran's skills, defense and savvy allowed him to punch, hold, slip and jive his way to finish all 15 rds.... I don't think a crude brawler like Ketchel did anything better than Hagler except maybe hold and grab.... Hagler all around is a far superior athlete... MR.BILL:good
I don't know Ketchel was a relentless puncher, Marvin was more of a boxer puncher and was content to press and box behind his defense, Stanley would take chances and look for Duran to crack under pressure more like a Hearns type of style than a Haglers with a bit less explosion than the Hit Man but maybe a touch meaner would be Stan
