what is the general consenses of which style is the best? the conventional stand up fighters like ali or srr or the crouchers and bob and weavers like frazier and lamotta? what are your reasons for your answers?have there been more champion stand up fighters or more croucher champions?
I think a stand up fighter is more consensusly popular for success. It takes a lot of speed, excellent timing and a good chin to be a pressure fighter, and a stand up boxer can hide a lot more flaws fighting and operating at distance.
Depends on the fighter really. The best fighters make their style and stance work for them, rather than the stance/style making them the best fighters ! The old trainer's maxim has it "make a tall fighter taller, make a short fighter shorter" but their are so many exceptions to that rule. And many fighters are obviously medium height for their weight class.
Well, if I was Frazier, I wouldn't want to be in there with a tall rabbit puncher like Wepner, who even left the back of Ali's neck sore. (Actually, I thought that was a bit of poetic justice after the way Ali hung on the necks of Frazier and Foreman. Chuck was somebody else who could fight dirty without resorting to low blows and kidney punches.)
