For me the answer is quite simple .... all of them. Getting to watch fighters go up against greats from other eras is a boxing fans dream come true.

Most of the answers so far seem to be about champions who fought in weak eras, as if this would prove to us how good they were or weren't. For me this is more about seeing how guys like Ray Robinson and Ray Leonard would do in other eras against other greats.

Floyd Mayweather Jr in the 1980s…so many great opponents across his weight classes.

I’d like to have seen Marvin Hagler step up to light heavyweight against Michael Spinks, Dwight Qawi or some others of that era.

I don’t think he’d be successful, but it would be interesting to see him try it. He made his rep by cleaning out a so-so middleweight division but made his biggest money fighting Ray Leonard (welter), Thomas Hearns (welter) and Roberto Duran (lightweight), so if it’s good for the goose it would be good for the Hagler.

Likewise, I’d like to see what Salvador Sanchez would have looked like against some of the 130-pounders (Chacon, Boza, Limon) and lightweights (Arguello, Mancini) of the day. He had the frame to carry it, but how would he fare? Had fate been kinder, we would likely have seen it.

I also would want to see John L. and Jeffries in eras with better fighters their own size

Relatable thoughts bruh but by havin' so much talentpool in one era some fighters would have ended inevitably overshadowed and didn't get the recognition they deserved by doing such imo.
This thread is more, like someone else pointed out in another thread, for boxers that don't have proper dancing partners in their respective era so we place in another where their abilities would shine more.

Floyd vs Arguello, Pryor, Duran or some other mexican legend would be nuts. He could replace Leonard at welter while he was on his temporary hiatus away from the ring too. Idk how many flowers him and Manny would get there with the four kings free-roaming but who knows, maybe they would have been way more tested and that era could have benefitted their legacy.

Fair enough. I'll go with Wladimir Klitschko, Joe Louis and lightweight Roberto Duran.

It would be great to see Archie Moore navigate the last-70s/early-80s LHW scene.

    Michael Spinks

    Matthew Saad Muhammad

    Marvin Johnson

    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad

    Dwight Qawi

    James Scott

    Victor Galindez

    Yaqui Lopez

    John Conteh

    Mike Rossman

Not sure if the Mongoose could get through that gauntlet undefeated, especially Spinks.

IMO, that’s the best top 10 in any single division who overlapped each other in any era. A few of them were kind of on their way out as the new guard came in (i.e. Conteh, Victor at the end of their ropes, while Spinks and Qawi were rising), but that’s a heck of a lot of sharks prowling the same waters simultaneously.

Don't know what to think of Beterbiev when he retires. I would have loved to see that tremendous power of his sledgehammers punches score some nasty KOs in other eras with maybe more light-heavy ATGs coming in to play with him.

James Toney in the 1940s, not only the competition but he would have to be so active and with less fast food available he hopefully doesn't balloon between fights.

    Roy Jones in the 80s

Ricardo Lopez.....he had some great fights to take 3 pounds north of him and it didn't happen so I'm not sure where to throw him when 105 was crazy. Maybe in an era when he would have to compete at 112

    Mike Tyson in the 2020s

Anthony Joshua in the 1940s....just for curiosity sake

Harry Greb in any era that has a good camera

Larry Holmes...let's move him 15 years earlier.

Aaron Pryor. He'd cause havoc, but i feel he's a bit overrated.

Maybe in another era he would have been still avoided and still started too late because his huge amateur career, but add Rigo in a period where Arum isn't around and he would have definitely accomplished more.
