    Any era in particular?

Any opponent in particular you'd like to see him in against?

Lopez was a minimum weight for the vast majority of his career. I'd make Calderon and even the green Chocolito favourites to beat him there.

After that and other than Alvarez, who he had 2 tight fights with, I only consider Porpaion and Moonsri as having elite records at Minimumweight. I'd take Lopez over both, peak vs peak.

I would have liked to have seen Donald Curry in at welterweight in the Leonard/Benitez/Duran/Hearns era. I thought he was awesome, but it seems he was never the same after being caught with a left against Mike McAllum (sp?) at JMW. A big disappointment the way his career ended.

    Hi Guys.
Quite a few great champs mixing in different eras springs to mind, Robinson going back to battle it out with, Ketchell, Papke, Klaus, / Moore coming forward to engage, Saad, Galindez, Johnson,/ Nelson facing off against, Leonard, Tendler, Ritchie, / and Walker locking horns with, Basilio, Gavilan, De Marco, and Graham / where is a time machine when you want one !
    stay safe fellow posters.

I haven’t seen enough of Chang to comment securely TBH. Carbajal or Cálderon would be dream fights, even Gonzalez. The point wouldn’t be necessarily to back López (though I might), but to give him more than an eye test for once.

Chang is easily the greatest of those mentioned, though Calderon could be the worst style match up for Lopez.

I agree, would have been interesting to see him in with that sort of quality of opposition, regardless of the outcome.

He looks so perfect. But I suppose I can’t rag all day & night on Holmes for his absence of great opponents & wax too lyrical about López :D

I would of liked to see Hagler against the 70's and 90's Middleweights. Then again we wouldn't have the fab four if he didn't fight in the 80's

Emanuel Steward said flat out that the Liston of the later 1950's was possibly the best heavyweight he ever saw and very well may have beaten Ali or anyone ... Liston was a natural 215 or so and easily would have been 15 pounds more and had that monster reach and in many ways was a better version of Foreman ... an even better ramrod jab, much sharper and straighter punches off it , a devastating puncher and so on ... I think that version would have been devastating in any era through today ...

It's funny because a completely different style of fighters came right after Hagler ... the Nunns, Toney, Jones, Hopkins, Benn and Eubank and it would have been very interesting to see how Marvin matched up ...
