At 160. I'm curious as to what you learned folks here would have to say on this subject. Who takes it?
Welcome Max.Wow what a post. The Michigan Asassin vs.the man many consider the hardest punching middle weight of all time.I've never considered this one but one thing is for sure it don't go the distance.Being as I'm from Michigan I'll go with Stanley via K.O.Thanks.
Fitzsimmons was more proven against bigger and better opponents, I would pick him viá late KO in a brutal slugfest and FOTY- candidate...
Good fighters I'm sure, but on the level of some of Fitzsimmons opposition? Honestly I can't say. I haven't memorized Ketchel's entire record and I haven't read up on every single one of his opponents. Excuse me for being a boxing ******. I hope I didn't offend you with my horribly inadequate knowledge. Please continue to slap your forehead and shake your head in exasperation because I made a simple statement.
Ill go with you L ,Fitz took big shots from Jeffries before being worn down, and he had the power to stop durable heavies like Sharkey.Fitz by ko.
Looking through Ketchel's record again I see that he also fought Sam Langford to a No Decision in 6 rounds in 1910. Apparently they would probably have met again later on to settle the score but Ketchel was shot dead months later. Wow, that makes his murder even more tragic.
Fitz by KO< fought bigger guys and beat them, so that proves he had more power in my opinion, and Liked the comment that he goes down the way he did vs Johnson, i see that as the outcome, many at ringside said Ketchel was coming on the last 2 or 3 rounds vs Langford and that Sam was wearing down form the attack of Ketchel to that point, but who knows in 6 rounds.
