I have mentioned that a local historian compiled years of research into Ketchel's years in Montana. Having spoken to this man i know that his research includes many hours of taped interviews with people that not only saw ketchel fight, but that also knew him and interacted with him on a daily basis.
This was a process that this man had undertaken, kind of his life's work, going back 50 or 60 years.
He died 5 years ago. I have recently contacted his family regarding access to his research, with the intent of writing the story. I have informed the researcher's family that I will make sure that they receive any and all proceeds from this venture.
I suspect there might be considerable interest in this...Again, I'm not looking to profit from this...I think that all of us would like to read this story.

    G,
G, lot's of luck about your Ketchel research...No fighter in history had a more devil may care aproach in the ring...Greb at least scooted away from trouble when necessary...Ketchel never took a backwards step. I am in awe of the Michigan Assassin ever since my elderly uncle would tell me as a boy
when he as a youngster saw Stanley Ketchel train in Van Cortland Park, Bronx. NY in 1909-1910...
Many years later I was walking on E, 24st in Manhattan, when I saw a sign on a bldg saying this was the former site of the Fiss, Doer and Carrol Horse Market. Well I read about, this was where Ketchel knocked Phil. Jack O'Brien
cold in the 10th round ,with O'Brien's head in the resin box ,and O'Brien was saved from a ko in 1909...An eery feeling came over me just visualizing that evening where the Michigan Assassin fought one of his most famous fights...
