Starling v Jackson late eighties at light middle .Marlon moves up what happens? Master of defense against master Ko artist .I think Starling could do it maybe late stoppage with Jackson cut and swelled up .like defusing a bomb but I think Marlon has the class. What do you guys think?

Good match up and really glad to c a non F#cking HW post!
Now I definitely feel Starling has the skills to out box him thats not the issue for me. Its moving up against a guy who had that power in multiple higher weight classes.
I think its a bridge to far for Starling. Jackson naturally the bigger man who carries the weight comfortable and hits like a truck. Marvin can make him look silly at times but gets caught in my opinion

Jackson would be much physically stronger. Still, I can envision Marlon blocking shots and countering over the top against the defensively deficient Jackson.

I'll go with Marlon by decision.

Starling was at his masterful defensive best against big punchers and brawlers.
Starling late in his career went distance and lost majority decision to MW
Champion Michael Nunn so he can handle size.
Starling block , counters and avoids Jackson bombs. Magic Man on pts.

Me too...Starling would have bamboozled Jackson badly, taken him out of his game, and would have indelibly impressed upon JJ that he wasn't about to catch ol' Moochie...and outside of catching guys with those bombs, Jackson didn't have a hell of a lot on the ball...not near enough to deal with Marlon Starling anyway...
Starling by a one sided decision.

I don't know. Starling used blocking a lot and even when you block a shot against a heavy puncher it hurts you and wears you down. Plus Jackson isn't going to have to look for Starling.
    I say Jackson on points.

Great match-up. McCallum said that Jackson was physically too much for him and he had to abandon trying to outbox him and himself needed to go for the KO, which he did. Starling doesn't have that ace in the hole. Either way, I say that Jackson's physicality has a likelihood of winning this one. One thing Jackson's opponents commented on was the quickness, not necessarily the power, of his punches. It wasn't that he just threw bombs but it was easy to get caught by the punches he threw. They moved lightning fast from Point A to Point B. Somewhere along the line, Starling gets caught, and tho it may not KO him, it turns the tide of the fight. Starling needs a tightrope act to win this one.

Yeah i'd have Jackson a medium favorite in this one. He's the bigger man and only ever lost by stoppage, and that was to (before he was like 34yo) one fighter just short of ATG and another who had ridiculous power. The guy went 11 years with just the loss to McCallum and he was a bit green then. Marlon is very much unproven at 154.

I wouldn't count Moochie out but gee he'd have to be on his game against the bigger guy. He was the skills advantage but Jackson has ridiculous power and a lot of speed. I don't think Starling could stop him.

Starling in a edge of your seat points win. Starlings radar would have to be on full alert in this one. Jackson s so dangerous at any time he could wipe you out.

Starling could win, but he would have to be on point, and Julian is more proven at 154. I think Julian by split decision.

Starling did not move much on his legs and I think Jackson even lands up high on the head and rocks Marlon and eventually knocks him out with a cleaner punch.
