so you have been training for 4 years and havnt had a fight yet. After 4 years of training as an adult you would want to be a gun and nearly a pro. I think your progress is slow...

Not all people are training to become world champions. I know of many people who's trained for many years, but never had a fight. And just because he hasn't had a fight yet, doesn't mean he has progressed slowly.

the only reason i said his progress was slow is in one of rdj post he was saying how he has progressed so quickly and everyone around him is impressed with how good he is. I think if you dont fight it doesnt mean **** how good you look in the gym. On fight day is where it all counts and its alot different to movin around in the gym.
I think if your not training to be your best dont train at at all, boxing isnt a sport where you can give 50%, you can get hurt. Remember you dont play boxing, its a lifestyle.

About 3.5 years to be exact, but I never intended to fight for the first 3 years. And how would you know anything about my progress if you've never seen me spar or whatever.

I didn't say I progressed quickly nor did I say everyone thinks I'm that good. What I said was that I'm performing better than many, including me, expected. And that my trainers are very positive about the results, which is why they want me to fight soon. If you start overweight at age 28 without much of an athletic past expectations aren't that high. Yet I'm doing very well in the ring with people who had many fights.

I do realize it will be different on fight night, and whether I do as good as in sparring remains to be seen. All I can do is prepare well.

I'm training to be my best, but I realize that isn't world or even national level. I box for fun, I'm ****ing 32 years old. I wish I found out about boxing 15 years earlier, but that didn't happen I was too busy being a fragile ****wit back then.

Disagree. Unless boxing is your livelihood to put food on the table then it shouldn't be a "lifestyle". That is, you shouldn't let any hobby consume your life, there is way more to life than boxing. Boxing being more risky than other sports has the tendency to do that to people. But you should give your all in training and when training is finished, you should focus on with other things in your life.

If you are training to be the best football or basketball player, you are going to bust your ass, but when training is over, you are not going to harp on it. The same should be true of boxing. Compartmentalizing is the healthiest way to do anything.
