    Hi all,

I suspect that this may have been requested a few times on here but work comittments restrict me looking through pages of threads.

I would like to start jogging/running to combat an ever increasing waist line and for a bit of relaxation as well.

What sort of timetable should I set myself for running times and progress?

Mate just look on the first page i think there are 2 threads already, but never mind im not one for using the search either. Running like most things you have to build up. Start off doing a mile or 2 3-4 times a week. Then just increase it, increase time, frequency, and distance. Mix it up do fast runs, long distance, sprints/ interval ect. I started doing less than a mile and collapsing in a heap. Now i run 3-4 mile runs, 5-6 miles runs and 9 mile runs. (reckon 9 mile is pretty much as far as ill run i want to break the 10 mile barrier) But now i have good distances i want to improve my times. Its a competition against yourself (not just running) So do whats best for you and always push yourself!!!

Sprints are not great for weight loss. The most effective type of running for you Lee would be 45 mins plus at a slow steady pace. You need to burn fat.

No worries mate, at the start of a training camp we would aim for 1hr 15 runs. Slow pace. We'd aim for time and not distance.

Gomez would run for 4hrs plus to lose weight.... He would run and run like Forrest Gump only much harder. lol.

Diet is very important too. Make sure you cut down the calories when you run. you'll feel like **** but thats the way I found to be most effective. One of the more knowledgable guys on here might be able to advise you better for methods of running with less rapid results. :good
