    Hi all,

Been a bit of time since I have posted on the forum but am back in training after taking a couple of years out due to a bad shoulder. I have slowly started training after having an op on my shoulder which seems to have sorted it but previously when training I never sparred due to being paranoid about my contact lenses and can't turn up to work looking battered as I meet clients. Have decided to go for a face saver and start sparring bit wanted to know if anybody here had experience with face savers (my only option I think) specifically with the pro box with aluminium bar or the lonsdale face saver? Any feedback if so re comfort, visibility, protection greatly appreciated.

    I have the rival one.
I wear contacts, but usually remove them for sparring. I've had them knocked out, even with the facesaver headgear. Which is OK, cuz I am fine without them.
Visibility is not as good as non-facebar ones, but to be honest, you don't notice it after a while.
The biggest thing I notice is, it restricts my breathing somewhat, so I gas faster with the headgear on, than without. Which is fine with me, because having reduced visibility and restricted breathing while sparring improves anaerobic conditioning and ability to see punches in actual fights - in my humble opinion.

They definitely do serve the purpose, which is reduce or eliminate facial trauma. I haven't had a shiner, or so much as a scratch with it.
