I think it's safe to say ESB got just a little carried away with what Chambers could do moving down to CW so late in his career all because he made an account on this site.
Yeah without question that has been the story of his career pretty much... "Should he be at cruiser or not?" etc. However, you've got to admit there was a massive boost of pro-Chambers-at-cruiser talk that wasn't nearly as prevalent until he signed up... Not that it was uncalled for, just looking back it is safe to say that people got carried away. Myself included. I thought he'd be able to jump right in and beat most of the top CW's. It would appear that I was wrong.
Mainly because people underrate the Cruiserweight division. For me Chambers biggest advantage was his speed at heavyweight but at Cruiserweight his opponents will be much faster than 99% of the heavyweights.
Eddie is a good dude but he doesn't belong at cruiserweight. He can have more success and make more money at heavyweight even if he never wins a title. He'd give Derek Chisora fits but at cruiserweight can you imagine what Ilunga "Junior" Makabu would do to him. It's interesting how styles and size can mesh to make different results than you would expect. Bottom line Eddie is weak at 200. He should weigh 215 -220 with a good strength and nutrition coach and he'd scalp a lot of heavies.
If Chambers can figure out how to fight more aggressively vrs a smaller guy like Mchunu, then he can still have success at cruiserweight. He needs to be more active though, as he ain't getting any younger.
I think Eddie did ok, it was just Muchunu was really much better than he should have been. He showed great defense and poise, eddie thought he was going to be countering and here comes this guy, leaning back making him miss and countering him. I think anyone at CW will have trouble with him.
