    Yo, Uncle Roger said something interesting things in a recent interview with G Leon. Leon asked what did he think about Ishe's counterpunching. He basically said that counterpunching doesnt mean anything if you dont win the fight and that a fighter shouldnt wait around. They should take the fight at their opponent.

    I found that interesting b/c that's definitely not what FLoyd does.

    Also, he mentioned an up and coming fighter named Said Ouali. He said to watch out for him. He pretty much says to watch out for him b/c he can punch like Cotto.

    With that statement, is he acknowledging Cotto's relentless punching ability. Also, is he contradicting the style employed by his nephew.

    I know i'm just picking an argument. But whateva. What you guys think?

    If you want to see the interview, just go to boxingtalk.

    when Floyd is not winning the fight, he becomes agressive. I don't see a contradiction.

    check PBF vs Judah as evidence. Floyd can definately take the fight to his opponent

    I don't think anybody denied the punching ability of Cotto and like he said he just tell it like it is. When Roger was a fighter he was more offensive minded then Floyd jr. and Sr. so I think that's just Roger's style when it comes to fighting. I also think it depends on who you are fighting as well to determine if you as a fighter will open up more or fight a more defensive fight.

    I suppose that is the best interpretation to make. Roger did say in the interview that counterpunching doesnt mean anything UNLESS you win the fight. So I suppose it's ok for Floyd to do it.

    It's just that when I read it, it seemed like he was making a definitive statement that you should take the fight to your opponent.

    As mention earlier by a previous poster, when floyd is not counter punching his is aggressive , look at later half of Oscar, the hatton fight , Zab etc..
    the only time his in not aggressive , is if his opponent continues to press the action then he is content to counter ..

    Here's another interesting Roger quote from that article;

    Roger tell us who you like between Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr?

    Roy Jones would win that fight. He's got the edge in skills and speed. Calzaghe slaps like a girl. I can't stand all that slapping ****. The fight was close with him and Hopkins. I mean he didn't dominate Hopkins and Hokpins is forty something years old. Roy Jones got a little more pop than Hopkins too. Roy has got better head movement than Calzaghe and just flat out boxing skills.

    I saw that as well. I do think that Jones has a better style to fight at against Calzaghe but we will see in Nov. I guess.
