"I had wonderful dinner at the invitation of my close friend, the greatest MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre Georges St-Pierre . I admire the talent of this outstanding person. Georges is not only one of the greatest athletes of our time, but he is also a man with a huge intellect. I cherish my friendship with Georges and sincerely wish him achieve all his goals."

Artur said before pouring Georges a shot and downing the remainder

A very interesting photo. If Beterbiev manages to accomplish half of what George has done, he'll have a tremendous career.

Vodka doesn't count as alcohol if you're Chechen. I'm sure there's a special dispensation somewhere in the footnotes of the Koran.

GSP fought in an era where he had to fight the best time after time

Artur's now been ducked by SEVEN manditories

And outside of Ward and Sergei, who would give Artur credit for beating?

He simply can't accomplish what GSP has, that's impossible

That's why I said half of what George has accomplished.I didn't realize that seven have ducked Beterbiev. Beating Sergei and Ward would do enough to solidify his reputation. And who knows, if he accomplishes that feat, there may be capable challengers around by that time.

The WW division is so much worse than it was during GSP reign. Lol I remember when idiots on boards used to claim it was one of the best divisions in MMA in GSP absence and that he wouldn't have been able to dominate it. With lots of top guys going up to 185, getting old, leaving the UFC(MacDonald)hell two top contenders are blown up Lightweights in Masvidal and Cerrone, Nelson could EASILY make 155 as well. The future of the division is looking pretty gloomy at the moment, Thompson is the only one there who can give Woodley trouble.

It would be interesting if Beterbiev tried MMA. He has wrestling background and seems naturally strong, he looks like Khabib. He could train grappling with GSP (the best MMA wrestler) on a daily basis and it would be a great test to see where he's at, if he would be able to stuff GSP takedowns NOBODY in the UFC would be able to get him down and good luck on the feet with Beterbiev power in 4oz gloves. A bit like Cro Cop training his BJJ defense with Werdum on daily basis when both of them lived in Croatia.

I wonder if GSP is improving his boxing sparring with Beterbiev.

The reasons why UFC 170 division got DESTROYED:

    - UFC having a "no boring grapplers" policy hurt 170 the most (Shields, Askren, Fitch, Palhares all out of the UFC in their prime)
    - UFC not wanting to extend contracts of Rory MacDonald and Lorenz Larkin recently
    - **** poor matchmaking
    - plenty of robberies/controversies in title fights in the last years (GSP - Hendricks, Hendricks - Lawler, Lawler - Condit, Woodley - Wonderboy I & II)
    - problems with top contenders Hendricks and Gastelum not making weight, eventually being forced to move up
    - letting Cowboy fight every month until he eventually got derailed as a contender
    - Brandon Thatch and Tumenov hypetrains derailed
    - Sage Northcutt (was meant to eventually fight at 170) hypetrain derailed
    - Lawler's chin eventually cracked
    - popular strikers Condit and Brown getting raped by Maia on the ground and not recovering their careers since
    - the rising star and the hope of the division Gunnar Nelson getting raped by Maia
    - UFC deciding not to promote Maia and not to build up on his momentum, instead they decided to do the opposite and screw him by not letting him get his well deserved title shot and play down/ignore his epic wins. Maia is actually the most marketable active 170 fighter at the moment (though that's not saying much) since he at least has BJJ geeks and Brazilians behind him while the rest of the fighters have no fans whatsoever, but the UFC is too dumb to realize this
    - giving Woodley an undeserved title shot and letting him feel entitled to stall the division and pursue "money fights"
    - Woodley's boring rematch with Wonderboy that nobody wanted to see
    - Wonderboy being hyped as the next Machida only to be exposed as the most boring pitter-patter point scoring striker in UFC history who couldn't hurt a fly
    - letting Woodley ramble about racism and race baiting losing the few fans that he had
    - desperately trying to get Nick Diaz an undeserved title shot (again), making a mockery out of divisional rankings
    - desperately trying to get Conor McGregor an undeserved title shot at 170, making a mockery out of divisional rankings
    - desperately trying to get GSP an undeserved title shot, making a mockery out of divisional rankings
    - having CM Punk fighting a complete freak show fight in that division didn't help either
