Can you direct me to the quote where AJ says he will step aside. Unless they are paying him an insane amount he isn't stepping aside. £5 million for example is pocket change. Not forgetting the WBC mandatory situation. There is no way Whyte is going to be made to see Fury v Usyuk and then the winner fights AJ. That would be ridiculous and make the WBC mandatory position nothing short of a joke.
My immediate reaction is: no, he should not step aside. However, thinking a bit more deeply, I can see circumstances where this changes. One example would be if Saudi make a concrete contractual offer binding all three boxers. Example of how I, an internet forum member with no knowledge of boxing contracts would draft this: On x date, Usyk v Fury will fight for the unified title in x arena for $x purse. On the same date, Joshua will face a top 15 opponent as the main undercard attraction for a fee of $x million (this is the "step aside money", essentially paying Joshua 10x the going rate for beating up Chisora / Lovejoy / Helenius etc) Within 9 months of this date, the winner of Usyk v Fury will face Joshua, with a purse split of x%/x%. I can see how this would become very attractive to all parties, assuming all the sanctioning bodies agree not to start stripping titles before the Joshua fight. Saudi get the events they want, Fury and Usyk get the shot at undisputed, and Joshua has the contractual lock.
Yes he should step aside because it makes sense, he ain't beating Usyk. Because if he loses again, which I think he will, the Fury fight is dead in the water. Will he? I think so yes but if he doesn't then my respect for him goes up.
Fury vs Usyk isn't big enough of a fight for them to pay an obscene amount to Joshua for step-aside. Saudi money can change it, though. But even with that I wouldn't recommend anyone to make a deal with Fury for a future fight. Who knows, he might get fat and depressed again.
If Joshua has genuine belief that he can beat either Usyk or Fury, the only logical move is to step aside provided that he is contractually due a fight against the winner. It would be represent an opportunity to realise his goal of becoming a undisputed fully unified champion. If Fury was to win he would have the opportunity to fight in the biggest fight in British boxing history. If he cares about the fans and the sport he should step aside so that we can see the historic undisputed unification fight.

I don't think it will happen. What does he really gain from stepping aside other than a few bob? He could get that and more from losing to Usyk and he'd still be in the same position. Attaining a contract that says you get a shot at the winner doesn't mean much in reality. What about all the mandatories? What about the inevitable rematch, is he going to wait until 2023? What if they win one apiece, will there be a trilogy? What if either or the pair of them retire afterwards? He will have to have good quality interim bouts too, what happens if he loses one of those? This is even before you consider the damage to his credibility. This is just paper talk in my opinion. He is in semi final for a shot at undisputed. That's how he has to see it. Why would you give that up?
