    Dear Friends
    kind regards
Today we continue with our Step back in time series.
Andrew Golota was never one of the most mentally stable heavyweights.
In late 1999 Golota fought heavyweight prospect Michael Grant and here was the result.

    Part 1.

    [yt]10L3dOlWBII[/yt]

    Part 2.

    [yt]LfUN_gJXkFM[/yt]

    Part 3.

    [yt]AXb0fKlThtg[/yt]

    Part 4.

    [yt]jBg7IilD_Sk[/yt]

Golota put Grant down twice and was ahead on points going into round 10.
Golota was put down once in round 10 and simply quit.
    Was that Moral?
If you could watch the match and give me your views A.S.A.P I'd appreciate it.
    yours thankfully
    John

Don't really wanna step back in time for this one. In fact, I'd rather forget this fight altogether. Very disappointing.

Yea me too man. I saved money all summer to buy a ticket to that fight drove to Atlantic City sat in the first row..... And watched my hero at the time quit. I heard him say no when Neuman asked him if he wanted to continue. Neuman shouldve never asked him though just said box. He probably still wouldve found a way to lose though.... One of the many Horrible memories of Golota ! Seeing I was at Lewis vs. Golota also.

    Dear Friends
    kind regards
I understand the comments that have been made.
When it is all said and done Golota just wasn't capable of competing at the highest level.
Golota was entertaining, but he lacked the knowhow to be anything other than that.

This fight took away from Lennox win against Grant, because after Grant fight with Golota he was looked as having a very suspect jaw and then when Lennox destroyed Grant critics did'nt want to give Lennox any credit for the win.

It's funny because I remember the talks before that fight very well as a kid through comments online and clips on the TV, many people actually gave Grant a good chance based on his power. As soon as he lost, it was the typical "We knew it, Grant is a bum...etc", some fighters just get no credit for anything they do.

    Dear BENNY BLANCO
    kind regards
Lennox Lewis certainly deserves credit for his destruction of Michael Grant.
Lewis usually destroyed opponents who were highly rated, think Golota and Ruddock.
Lewis would have likely destroyed Grant even if the match with Golota never took place.
But Lewis KNEW that Grant had a shaky chin and did what he knew he could do.

Mike was my friend, We had come through some hard fights, Obed and Izon especially, then we had our eye on the big one (Lewis) We knew Golota would be a tough one , but my god i almost bit my nails off.... Golota had it in the bag, and he didn't have the iron will to maintain the win.. He turned his back on Victory... We were offering nice words to the Lord that night..

Mike got out of jail ...... I still couldn't tell you what happened ..

If Grant only had the proper management. What a waste...

he wasnt that bad he just had only a decent chin (which is managable) coupled with low left hand (perfect right hand territory) and no clinch work. he was pretty slow for a guy as athletic as he was.

i personally think he reacted pretty well in the first knockdown pretty well. that right hand would of dropped most heavy's (and it did)
if you that big trying to get up is gonna look like a joke.

amazing specimin tho. 86' reach 6'7 and 250 odd pounds perfect body in a purely statisitcal eye

Well they seem to have done the right thing putting him up against Golota at the time but his management probably thought he was going to beat Golota easy but received the shock of a lifetime, but they should have waited on putting him up against Lennox even though I don't think it matter anyway I think Lennox would always beat Grant whether he developed or not.

grant looked like an athlete trying to box. he seemed too stiff, not very fluid and lacking intelligence. his natural gifts far exceeded his boxing talent.

lol. lennox put him on ***** street. he looked like sam peter against mccline. those rabbit punches were brutal. lennox could get down and dirty with the best of them

rofl at mcgirt saying in between rounds, 'u all right, Mike?" dude was on another planet :rofl

    Dear Liston_Tyson
    kind regards
No one cares about your opinion but you.
You probably hate watching the Step back in time series because you will never feature in it, unless you are getting knocked out by Lamon Brewster.
    yours thankfully
