    Dear Friends
    kind regards
Tonight we continue our Step back in Time series.
The matchup is George Foreman (40-1) versus Ron Lyle (32-3-1).
George Foreman suffered a devasting defeat to Mohammed Ali before this fight and was trying to regain his confidence by building another winning streak.
Foreman knew that if he could get a few impressive wins in a row, then he would get a title shot against Ali.
    However, Lyle had different plans.
Recently, Lyle lost to Ali during a world title fight in one of his previous fights and just came off a win against Earnest Shavers in which he had to beat the count and win by KO.
Both of these fighters were at the cross roads and the loser would have a hard time getting back into title picture.
This fight was a definition of WAR.
Both of these men went toe to toe with each other.
Ron Lyle showed tremendous courage because he did not take a step back in this fight against arguably one of the hardest punchers in the history of boxing.
He traded with Foreman and had him staggered a couple of times.
However, it was ultimately Foreman who was the last man standing after this vicious war.
I cannot post the link to the whole fight but here is the link to the last round where both men seemed like they were out of gas but continued trading.

Foreman showed that he had the will, power, and determination to win in this classic fight and proved that he deserved another title shot.
Lyle was never the same after but he deserves a ton of respect for giving his all against an ATG fighter.
If you could watch the last round of the fight and comment in this thread I would really appreciate it.
    yours thankfully
