Step back in time.........Lennox Lewis versus Razor Ruddock

hehe i remember the match. I actually still remember the damn fight promo (how sad is that) with lennox drinking tea talking in a british accent. This was the first fight I saw of lewis at the time. I was around 9 - 10 years old I think. I sure loved the heavyweights back then, fun stuff. Too bad they suck now.

 

excellent stuff. ive been lurking for three years and never posted once. this is when this board is great. ive learnt something today. and best of all there is zero ****tards going. 'TYSON KO1' etc etc. as in all the bull**** Hatton threads at the moment.

 

I think the only reason Ruddock gave Tyson trouble was because of his size, so Tyson focused on a body attack. That's probably the only Reason both fights lasted as long as they did. Lewis didn't have a height issue against Ruddock and was able to target that head better than Tyson. Thus the fight ended much earlier. Still, Lewis fought a better fight against Razor. However, had Tyson still had Rooney as a trainer and had he fought Lewis back then, I think Tyson takes him inside of 9 rounds.

 

Tyson barely took anything out of Ruddock IMO.

Lewis beat up more or less the same Ruddock, by a vicious KO.

Lewis > Tyson

 

We had had so many false hopes in boxing who got found out at world level and i fully expected lennox to go the same way. Against a man who had given tyson so many problems you could have forgiven him for feeling a little nervous, but as always lennox was coolness personified. Even the post fight interview was quite subdued considering what he had just acheived. It was after this fight that i knew we had found something special to take onto the bigger stage. Top class performer.
