its a boxing forum pal we talk boxing ,yes fighters have bad nights but it was the way smith was taken apart round after round and then put too sleep he was a hype job there's a few feather weights domestically who would do that to smith.

Great point you made, Im not making excuses for him but i do believe fighters come on very quickly now with the pressure on promoters to see a pay back. It was clear to see ( if you have watched smiths fights) that Stephen didnt seem right in the fight, the same guy who went to Scotland to win the title was certainly not the same fighter who fought on Saturday. One more thing he will bounce back and he will win a title again.

Selby was not 100-1 by KO. He was 100-1 in that particular round. He was 14-1 via KO. Selby's corner got ti spport on tactically give yourself room, against punch hold grab maul tactics

That's got nothing to do with the point I made though. I've met Stephen a couple of times but years ago and I wouldnt profess to know him. If you're suggesting I just wrote that because he's from Liverpool then you're wrong.

I'm just a boxing fan like the rest of us on here. I just happen to have a close relative in the game. Bottom line is I love the sport. I'm just disappointed to see a good young fighter getting written off and hammered on here because he lost a fight, albeit surprisingly not to mention emphatically. Many of the people on here now calling Stephen 'domestic level' etc are the same ones who routinely hammer promoters for not making 50 50 fights.

My point was, if this is the reaction when someone loses, then no wonder they don't!

 

By the way, well done to Selby. I was stunned with how good and strong he was and I look forward to seeing him again. Him vs John Simpson is a hell of a fight if it happens :good

 

He probably doesn't deserve a re match simpson and himself were good enough to do it again so maybe selby and smith should have another bash it will happen again just like defail and groves!!!!
