Smith looks strong as ever. Selby is avoiding eye contact in the staredown during instructions. :think

 

Round 1

They flail together and clinch. Smith jabs to the body. Selby backs up and jabs. Smith is throwing hard right hands while darting forward and getting grabbed. Smith is loading up on very powerful shots but having difficulty with his aim as he cannonballs himself inside. Selby is jabbing timidly and throwing equally non-discouraging rights en route to tying up. Smith is swinging both arms around overhead while just running straight at Selby. It's pure balls-out aggression and not terribly pretty, but it's winning him the round. Selby backs up and his jab falls short as he skips away.

Round 2

Smith pushes a jab straight down the middle, forcing Selby into full retreat. Selby tries to jab off the back foot but is too cowed by the scrappier man with the shorter reach to really take chances with extending the left. Selby now starts to load up on overhand rights while flopping forward into brief holds. The jab won't find a home for Selby but he's able to spoil effectively with the alternating overhand rights to the neck and shove-offs. Smith isn't able to land his power shots during Selby's free-falls and keeps them sheathed as Selby ducks out. BIG right by Selby! Smith is hurt! Now Smith is holding and trying to spank Selby across the back.

Round 3

Another big right hand from Selby. Smith has no answer for it. Selby has found his range and is really tagging Smith well with the long overhand right and left hooks. Good jab by Selby now, staying outside and keeping Smith on a leash. Big right and left uppercuts by Selby! Selby is proving to be too rangy and too sharp for Smith! Smith is hurt several times and just wrestles his way inside by putting his arms up high to haul down on Selby's. Good jabs by Selby setting up that long overhand right that gets his full body weight poured into it as his rear foot comes off the canvas. Smith starts to get a few shots in as Selby comes forward a bit over-eager. Clear Selby round all the same.

Round 4

Selby is landing hard rights to the head and body behind his long anchoring jab. Smith is trying to get inside and plug away to the body but is mostly getting rocked and forced to grasp Selby for a reprieve every time he comes forward. Smith gets a short uppercut on the inside but doesn't have much behind it. Hard right to the body by Selby, getting the better of the infighting. Selby is landing the jab on the outside, annoying Smith and causing him to dive forward and grab where Selby's hands are just busier and more accurate.

Round 5

Selby is throwing uppercuts and overhands from outside, and then leaning up against Smith. Selby looks tired. Smith is working the body and hooking up high from either side while pushing Selby to the ropes. Not much coming back from Selby. A nervous glance at the clock by Selby. A minute and a half left. Smith is powering Selby back in the clinches and working both fists over the top. Jabs to the chin and chest by Smith as he comes in. Selby lands a short hook to the body. Smith whips away with uppercuts. Accidental low blow by Smith. The ref didn't see it and Selby didn't react. Rough stuff, Selby pushing up on Smith's chin with the palm of his glove and forcing him to stare at the ceiling. Body shots by Smith. Selby lands a 1-2 and Smith answers back with one. Overhand right by Smith after Selby lands a right.
