Look at the Simpson fights, he was exhausted in the first one after about 6 rounds and same with the second.

Selby is clearly a league above Smith, especially with him training under Jo Gallagher.

Selby would outclass and spark Stephen again, maybe even earlier :yep
You know it aswell Tony, all you scouse *******s never bet against each other ;)

I had Simpson winning both fights by 2 rounds and don't get me started on that **** O'Connor's score card in that 2nd fight.

For what it's worth I had smith in the first and Simpson in the second with both fights being very very close. Selby did very well in his fight with smith, and took care of Simpson better than smith. But this doesn't mean anything (a beat b better than c beat b so this means this is what would happen if they fought). If swiftly gets back to the jab, works from the outside, uses more lateral movement and uses sensible power epunch selection he will be far more competitive with selby. He is capable of all of these things. What needs the work is the inside game. What made the Simpson fights so close was the action up close. Simpson got the better of a lot of that action. I like smith and it's clear to see he possesses a lot of natural talent. I actually think joe g is capable of getting his fighters to be eefective on the inside, but maybe smith needs someone to help him out with his up close game, so maybe a change wouldn't be a bad thing. With the right training he can defo move beyond domestic level

It's all very well getting back on the jab but Selby's so rangy, he's difficult to beat from range and has much better defence than Smith. So ultimately he's going to pick Smith off with counters every time. He's also not been brutally knocked out so it wouldn't be a surprise if Smith had demons in that fight.

Smith's weakness up close isn't an issue against Selby.

Some fair points made there. Selby does have a lovely in out style, but going back to boxing and the jab is key for smith. I was at the fight when smith was stopped, and the overriding thing that happened with smith in that fight was he came onto selby all guns blazing head down. Call it what you want, poor prep etc, but boxing off the back foot with a good jab will set selby up for counters. Selby would follow smith around if he employed that style. Simpson had some success against selby with this style. I'm not saying smith definitely wins by employing these tactics, but he gives himself a much better chance.
He may well have some demons going into the fight itself, but this could make him fight a more cautious fight, which in itself could be key to securing a victory. Don't get me wrong though, by simply doing these things does not automatically negate selby, as he is very good and can make adjustments mid fight.
Whatever happens its interesting, and a fight that should happen down the line
