    Agreed to some extent.

You take the fight to the champion.

Smith took the first few............then the last few.

    Not bitter.

Smith was sharp then scrappy.........then fell in a lot and i aint meaning it meant Simpson worked.

When its draws, its the champs still..........if it aint like that, as it seems to not be these days and fair enough........score it the draw.

    He's like an octopuss.

It's a real shame that such a talented boxer wastes his skills by fighting like a mother whose just been reunited with her child.

Dunno who you are referring to but....even if you know you lost the round......you still raise your hands.

    Shall fix up ma posts.

With reference to the being a draw, i was kinda thinking from a neutral POV........you could understand them giving Smith the first few and the last (based on rallying) i had non boxing ppl here thinking Smith won.......maybe the fans/atmosphere effect ?

Anyways, Simpson after a cpl rounds settled down and got going.....took the centre of the ring, boxed...when allowed and kept a good workrate, i was a bit tattied but i remember he did enough.

The raised fists, everyone does it for different reasons, both were doing it last night.

For a personal boost/to show the judges you think you won the round/to get in the head of your opponent.......just a thought.

I was told once, never walk back to the corner with your head down or shaking it regardless of what your unhappy about....cause if the fight is tight.........the judges will just think....ah well he thinks he lost anyways.

Not sure if its a great example but......

Right, gonna go check the threads......i remember they were going mental when i was logging off.

    :good

has smith got a history of holding in fights prior to the two with simpson? i dont remember him doing much holding before.

as far as i can see this was his way of adapting to a relentless pressure fighter much better than the kind of opp he was used to. i dont expect he'd fight the same way against anyone else, but i guess we'll see.

I dont think Smith has a history of holding then again he has only been fighting journeymen really before Simpson. He pretty much was thrown in against the top feather in the country.

Its obviously his way of dealing with the pressure. From what ive seen of Smith which isn't loads he could be considered a boxer puncher stick and move type then step in with some hard shots. His record is deceiving he is fairly heavy handed as demonstrated by the first round few put a dent in his chin like that.

I wouldnt expect him to fight that way in all of his fights just the pressure that John brings was relentless such a good engine and chin that it will wear you down.
