There’s a fine line between being classy and being limp. Each to their own but I’d much prefer a hostile, more atmospheric crowd and I say that as someone with a massive amount of respect for Japan and it’s culture.

I get what you are saying and it's ok to be hostile (non-violent) during the event but at the end of the contest it is also appropriate to applaud both combatants. Fulton may have been outclassed but he showed up to fight and did his best to put on a show.

    He was rightly applauded afterwards.

I completely agree. Being respectful after the event is wholly commendable and correct but Fulton was being applauded into the ring.

That’s completely different to the way it happens in my part of the world and my preference is that, in a competitive environment, outsiders are welcomed into a hostile atmosphere.

I’m not dismissing the Japanese for their conduct, far from it, I’m just stating a preference which is obviously culturally different. I have the utmost respect for the Japanese and their cultural norms and customs.

I'm a bit surprised that all three judges gave Fulton the 7th. Fulton did land the best punches in that round, but on overall work I thought it was Inoue's also on rewatch. The judges were closer to the action than me of course, though, but I find it's often the case that if the fighter that's been dominated even things out a bit in a round he often wins that round on the judges' card even if he perhaps shouldn't.

The 5th were also closer than the rest of the rounds, but Fulton just had moments so I think that was quite clearly Inoue's on overall work.

I've been of the opinion for a while now that judges should not be ringside where possible - I actually think that from their vantage point, they can miss a lot of the action. I would prefer that they are given a live feed of the tv feed/transmission of the fight (without commentary), and base their scores on that.

That's a fair point. Ringside your view will be obscured at times.

Shocking that one Ref had it 65-68. Way too close.

Inoue has to be one of the P4P top 3 now, what a destructive victory. Amazing power being carried up into 4 weights now. Wonder where he will top out weight wise.
