He signed up for year round random testing from VADA (like no other athlete has done before or since in any sport anywhere in the world besides Edwin Rodriguez, which I find interesting) beginning with his training camp for the Mathebula fight in July 2012. So he then scored 3 of his 4 victories in his 2012 Fighter of the Year campaign with that highly tested "form." He kept being tested until after the Vetyeka bout. I wouldn't hold my breathe for any sort of regression in his "form" because of that. The regression in his "form" occurred when the calendar turned 2013. ---------------------- Here are some quotes from Dan Rafael's article/blog on 12/14/12: But unlike other fighters who might make a deal to be tested randomly in the build-up to a particular bout, Donaire is the only fighter in the world enrolled with VADA who allows the organization to test him 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, whether he is in training for a fight or not. ... Donaire said he laughs when he hears some fighters talk about the hardship of having to give blood at a moment's notice. "I had four small vials of blood taken from me and then I sparred 11 rounds," Donaire said. "They took my blood and then, like, 20 minutes or 30 minutes later I did 11 rounds. They can come at any moment. But I'm a clean guy. I don't drink or do anything [bad]. No weed or any chemical in my body. I have nothing to hide. I would love for all fighters to follow me, but not everybody is like me." http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/2620/donaire-sets-ped-testing-standard
:good it was a valiant decision from him no doubt, I'd like to see more do the same but without a single governing body and "new tech" all sports will be blighted by it If athletics can't catch them all boxing ain't got no chance
Nobuhiro Ishida recently blog about how he not able to lose weight, he stuck weighing about 83kg. He bulk up for heavyweight fight.
Do you have a list of modern day sprinters they do and did sponsor? Maurice Greene, Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin ring a bell? But it's probably rife in boxing knowing how incredibly bad the testing is. There are differences in use and substances though, like it was in cycling what a lot of people seem to ignore to suit their agenda.
I was referring to your assumption that ALL fit and fit-looking boxers MUST be roiding. I dont assume that - and I dont think many others do either. I am however very suss about AJ. That vast chunk of 'British Beef' is a tad too muscular to be true IMO.

:deal From a former boxing turned weightlifter/bodybuilder, I wholeheartedly agree. Uneducated fools throwing around terms they have no meaning of. 2 of my favourite instances: I love the logic that someone like Pacquiao must be geared to the gills because of his freakish KO power over opponents. BUT You see someone like Golovkin who is walking through people but no word at all of PED's. Then there is the typical nutswingers that base accusations off appearance and agendas. Someone like Anthony Joshua or Wlad Klitschko gets accused of using gear because of their ripped appearance, but at the same time, are uneducated enough not to know that it is just as likely that someone like Tyson Fury or Bryant Jennings could be running a cycle. Regardless of how they look aesthetically. :nut atsch It just makes me laugh at how smart some people on this forum believe they are. :verysad
